When a family finds housing that they can afford, their attention can rightfully
be shifted to the business of living life and pursuing dreams.
By providing homes within reach of local citizens,
communities become more inclusive, caring, and livable.
By restoring our historic buildings, neighborhoods become safer and more attractive,
with our shared history preserved. By creating affordable homes in downtowns and village centers, towns are strengthened and sprawl reduced.
The Land Trust approach offers an effective, practical means of developing housing opportunities and fostering vibrant, diverse, and attractive
communities, as our charter promises, for "as long as the grass grows and water runs..."
Each year, BACLT must raise sufficient funding to pay for essential staff
and overhead costs which are not fully covered by our grant sources.
Only a very small percentage of the grant dollars we receive for our
housing development projects are available to support our general operating
costs. To keep rents affordable to our residents, the Land Trust turns
to private foundations, individuals, and businesses for additional financial
support. We rely on the generosity of the community.
There are a variety of ways that you can support BACLT. We are a 501 (c) (3), tax-exempt charitable organization,
and your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Annual fund gifts
Supporting our annual fund with a cash gift is the simplest and most common way to support BACLTs
important community development work. This gift might be a one-time contribution,
or a monthly contribution deducted from your credit or debit card. To support our annual fund effort, please send your check, payable to the Brattleboro
Area Community Land Trust, 192 Canal Street, Brattleboro, Vermont, 05301.
We also accept secure online donations through groundspring.org! You may choose to make
a one-time gift or a recurring gift monthly, quarterly, or annually. Donating online
is a wonderful way to support BACLT, as it lowers our costs for mailing and administration, allowing your donation to go
straight to BACLT's programs and services.

Bequests
A bequest is a gift made through your will or living trust. It is a
straightforward way to make a gift to the Land Trust, and worthy of
your consideration. A bequest might be used to ensure that your annual
contributions continue, or to make a special one-time gift to the Land
Trust. Such gifts are fully deductible for estate tax purposes.
Gifts of Land or Property
The Land Trust would be happy to discuss a potential gift of land or
property. Depending upon your wishes, the property might be preserved
as housing or sold, with the sale proceeds benefiting the work of the
Land Trust.
Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds
Stocks, bonds, or mutual funds are easily donated, and can often provide
you with exceptional tax savings. When you donate appreciated securities
to BACLT, you will usually receive the benefit of a fair-market value
income tax deduction, and your gift will be exempt from capital gains
tax. Your financial advisor will be able to advise you on the best way
to make of gift of this type.
To ensure that your goals are achieved, let us discuss your gift with
you. Please contact Connie Snow, Executive Director, at 802-254-4604,
x 103. Email address: csnow@baclt.org.
Working together, we can continue to make a differencea huge difference
in our Windham County neighborhoods and in the lives of our fellow county
residents!
Thank you for your generosity!
